Vegetation monitoring of alpine pastures in the Hohe Tauern National Park Carinthia
In 2012, an ecosystem and natural ressources analyses in the Carinthian part of the Hohe Tauern National park was implemented. By means of a model, the distribution and conservation status of those 22 habitat types which occur in Carinthia, was generated. Additionally, a comprehensive modelling of the differing grazing intensity was calculated. In this project, E.C.O. set up a network of monitoring plots where all relevant for grazing habitat types in different altitudes were covered. The selection of the plots was based on the models, used before. Simultaneously, E.C.O. verified the models in the field. The new information gained from this project, helps to specify the status quo of the FFH habitat types in the core area of the Carinthian part of the Hohe Tauern National Park.
