Management plan for the Hohe Tauern National Park
The Hohe Tauern National Park, Austria’s largest protected area, stretches over three Austrian federal states: Carinthia, Salzburg and Tyrol. Currently, the Carinthian administration of the National Park is updating its management plan, which dates back to 2001. The National Park administrations from Tyrol and Salzburg have already updated their plans. E.C.O. supports the Carinthian part of the National Park in renewing and updating the plan. The updating and supplementation of the objectives and measures on the basis of a comparison with current strategies, plans and objectives will be carried out, discussed and agreed upon in an intensive regional participation process with local actors and relevant stakeholders. This shall create a strategic basis for the continuation of the successful work of the national park administration, from which measures and focal points may be derived. The management plan will be completed in winter 2021/22 and presented to the public in 2022.
