The implementation of habitat-mapping and the preparation of forest management plans are based on costly and time-consuming field surveys. The data usually is filled in analogue forms. The digitization mostly takes place in the winter months. In this FFG research project, five consortium partners work with their know-how on the optimization of the workflow. The process includes automatic (drone)-flight planning, preparing and processing remoting sensing data, designing sample-based forest inventory with minimized field work and compiling forest management plans involving ecological and social aspects. E.C.O. can use its experience in several areas and is responsible for ecological questions and for the adaption of the newly developed tablet-application for nature management plans and habitat mapping. Since it will be possible to digitally collect the data in the field, the plausibility check can happen simultaneously. This increases the quality of the data and reduces postprocessing efforts.
