Nature protection in the entire Alpine region is faced with major challenges that are due to the fact that mountain pastures are no longer farmed which in turn leads to a loss of valuable plant communities. The “Nature Conservation Plan on Alpine Pastures” is an important tool in contractual nature protection for preserving the quality of mountain pastures as valuable natural spaces over the long-term. Selected areas will be digitalized on the basis of orthophotographs and recorded in a standardized plan. A concept for conservation and farming will also be drawn up together with the pasture farmers.
