The ÖPUL programme provides a special financing measurement for Alpine pastures in protected areas: the “nature conservation plan on Alpine pastures”. E.C.O. Institute for Ecology manages selected Alpine pastures in the Hohe Tauern National Park, e.g. Mallnitzer Alm. A measurement plan is created together with the cultivator of the Alpine pasture. Through this development instrument, valuable areas can be correspondingly cultivated for the national park according to the guidelines and thus be of benefit to nature conservation. The cultivators of the Alpine pastures, however, will get a financial compensation for 70–100 % of the measures taken.
