Red lists reflect the anthropogenic influence on our biodiversity and are an essential tool for various nature conservation issues. In order for the Red Lists to reflect the current situation in the best possible way, however, appropriate data updating is necessary. The current Red List of endangered ferns and flowering plants in Carinthia is now more than 20 years old and thus no longer sufficiently reflects the real threat to numerous species of nature conservation relevance. The regional classification of species hazards in the specific Carinthian natural areas should be carried out with the broadest possible participation of the most experienced experts on Carinthian flora in order to ensure that the data is highly up-to-date and of high quality. The result of the revision should be a data set containing all fern and flowering plant species occurring in Carinthia and their updated degrees of endangerment as well as supplementary information.
