Milestone for the protection of European beech forests

E.C.O. Institute of Ecology, together with the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences, is taking on a leading role in the new Permanent Secretariat for the UNESCO World Heritage Site “Ancient and Primeval Beech Forests of the Carpathians and Other Regions of Europe”. On behalf of Belgium, Slovakia and Austria, the Secretariat coordinates the research and protection of this unique natural heritage site. With expertise in research and monitoring, E.C.O. supports the sustainable protection of the 93 sub-areas in 18 countries. The project runs from 2024 to 2029.
