The Salzburger Lungau and Carinthian Nockberge Biosphere Reserve has been dealing with the issue of invasive alien species for a long time. In the course of the NABIS (Nature Based Engineering Solution) project, an invasive alien screening and a risk analysis is therefore carried out in the Carinthian part of the Biosphere Reserve. The project is managed by E.C.O. and the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences (Institute of Soil Bioengineering and Landscape Construction). It focuses on the development of techniques and strategies for an integrated management of invasive alien species. The aim is to sustainably control invasive alien species within the entire Biosphere Reserve and prevent their further spread, as well as to support the provision of ecosystem services. In this way, a significant contribution will be made to the implementation of the sustainable development goals (SDGs) and to other national and international strategies such as the AICHI biodiversity goals and the Agenda 2030.
