CLEANSTONE: Interreg project Italy/Austria
Innovation in the natural stone industry
CLEANSTONE is an Interreg project we are working on together with several international partners. It is laid out as a pioneer project for ecological sustainability in the natural stone industry.
Our overall aim is to develop an innovative technology so quarries can firstly reduce waste material from slurries and quarry plates of various stone types and secondly reuse these secondary raw materials – resulting in an increase in efficiency while at the same time improving in environmental sustainability.
Besides other tools, we rely especially on our in-house developed L.B.I., short for Longterm Biodiversity Index, a great tool for safeguarding evidence and monitoring the success of ecological compensation measures. The L.B.I. is used in selected quarries in Austria and Italy.
Our project partners are the University of Udine, the University of Padua, Confartigianato Imprese Vicenza and the civil engineering department oft he Carinthia University of Applied Sciences. We will be happy to keep you updated on any project news.
The project is financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and Interreg V-A Italien-Österreich 2014-2020.
