Year 2012

By recognising the Ancient Beech Forests of Germany as an extension of the World Heritage Primeval Beech Forests of the Carpathians in 2011, UNESCO demonstrated its support for a serial transnational nomination of the European beech forests. This project examines which European primeval beech forests can be included in the World Heritage. At regular meetings of experts and meetings with representatives of the countries in question, a joint approach is being coordinated and suitable areas selected. As a partner of Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development, E.C.O. has taken on the moderation of meetings and workshops, and is available as a source of advice.
