Year 2022

Since 2012, 15 municipalities in the Salzburger Lungau and four municipalities in the Carinthian Nockberge region are designated UNESCO biosphere park. Declared as "model regions for sustainable development", they form part of an international network whose aim is to raise awareness and promote sustainable development in the region. The nomination by the UNESCO obliges the Biosphere Reserve Salzburg Lungau & Carinthia Nockberge to carry out an evaluation of the previous decade in a 10-year rhythm – starting with the date of recognition. E.C.O supports the Biosphere Reserve in making the achieved progress and developments measurable, evaluating them and pointing out suggestions for improvement, consulting the specialized departments.
