Status-Report: Comparing the management plans of Austrian national parks

Management plans are fundamental documents for the ongoing management of each national park. However, there are no common criteria or guidelines specifying the content or structure. Consequently, the Austrian national parks have very different management plans.

On behalf of the Nationalparks Austria, the umbrella organization of Austrian national parks, and in collaboration with the management bodies of all Austrian national parks, the team of E.C.O. analyzes and compares the contents and structure of the existing management plans along predefined criteria. The results of the analysis will be discussed with representatives of the Austrian national parks in order to develop recommendations for the development of national standards for management plans in accordance with the Austrian strategy for national parks.
