Visiting the Natura2000 site Lendspitz-Maiernigg
On-site with the environment committee
Together with representatives of the city of Klagenfurt we visited the natura2000 site Lendspitz-Maiernigg on water and on land. E.C.O. project lead Susanne Glatz-Jorde presented the latest news.
Our first stop was the newly installed wooden stakes that we reached by boat which indicate the reed belt at the shore to the water sports enthusiasts. The reed belt offers water birds and plants and fish an important place of retreat.
Our second stop took us to the moor grass meadows in the West which are now taken care of differently. Among others they are home for various rare butterfly species.
We are happy about the project’s progress and the shared enthusiasm by all fractions. Special thanks to the ‚Wasserrettung Klagenfurt‘ (‚Lifesaving Association‘) fort he boat trip.
