There is great news!

The steppe whiskered bat (Myotis aurascens) was detected in the Natura 2000 site "Lendspitz-Maiernigg" in Klagenfurt and for the first time in Austria.

It was discovered in the course of survey work within the project Smart Environment / Natura 2000 Living Lab (SENAL 2000) by staff members of the Coordination Office for Bat Protection and Research in Austria (KFFÖ) and Arge NATURSCHUTZ.

Surprising was not only the first detection of the species, but the finding of a colony, which was achieved by radio telemetry.

We sincerely congratulate on this scientific success!
