Amphibian Conservation in the Natura 2000-site
New Habitats for Amphibians as Part of the "Moor4Klagenfurt" Project

Due to their water-dependent reproduction, breeding ponds are of central importance for amphibians. As part of the "Moor4Klagenfurt" project, ten new breeding ponds for amphibians were created in January 2025 in the Natura 2000-site Lendspitz-Maiernigg, and seven existing ponds were cleared of riparian vegetation and deepened.
These measures specifically promote habitats for amphibians and contribute to the preservation of valuable wetlands and moors. In close collaboration with the companies Erdbewegung Wölfl and Markolin, we are making an important contribution to biodiversity and nature conservation in Klagenfurt.
