Scietifical and technical support of the Geo-Day of Biological Diversity inside Biosphere reserve Nockberge

On the 21st and 22nd July of 2017 this year´s GEO Day of Biological Diversity, an annual meeting of experts founded by the GEO-magazine, was held at the biosphere reserve Nockberge under the theme: „Flying high – tracking the alpine zone”. This successful day promoting biodiversity is supported by E.C.O. on a scientific and contend-related basis from 2017 to 2019. Starting at the Zirbenhof (Innerkrems) about 50 leading experts were combing through expelled research areas to find and identify as much different species (plants, animals, fungus and lichens) as possible within a timeframe of 24 hours. Thus, this year´s Geo Day primarily focused on summit area habitats and belonging wildlife. The preliminary results are equally astonishing and impressive: almost 1000 different species belonging to the different classes could be detected and identified by participating experts.
