Sustainable tourism in the Salzburg Lungau Biosphere Reserve. Accompaniment and support in the preparation of the tourism action plan

The Biosphere Reserve Salzburg’s Lungau is working intensively on its further development and on the elaboration of its role as a tourism destination. Thus, the management of the biosphere reserve is currently partner in an INTERREG Project called CEETO (Central Europe Eco-Tourism: tools for nature protection). Within this project the biosphere reserve is testing different methods and elaborating concepts for the promotion of sustainable tourism in the Lungau. Next to the implementation of pilot actions linked to visitor management, the management is focusing on the development of a tourism action plan for the years coming. E.C.O. was commissioned to support the management in the elaboration and implementation process and to provide technical inputs for selected activities. Particularly, an integration of the tourism action plan into the overall management plan of the area is amongst the key tasks of E.C.O.
