A comprehensive landscape inventory is made within the HQ100 area of the Glan River. Landscape structures, use and special aspects of nature protection are investigated. A total of 36 different types of landscape structures are recorded, plus additional information, such as proportion of vegetation, neophytes, woody plants, forest type, water balance, use as grassland, farmland or forest, and orchards. For each type of structure, area balances are drawn up based on the additional information and three different flood water flow areas (HQ5, HQ30, HQ100). Cross transects are created for four typical sections of the river that were chosen as representatives parts, and these transects are depicted for both the current and the historic vegetation. The comparison of current and historic vegetation shows the development of the selected river sections and makes conclusions about future developments possible.
