In the context of the event round for the Carinthian State Exhibition CARINTHIja 2020, KulturKontakt Austria and E.C.O. Institute of Ecology realise a participatory historical research project. In four municipalities – Klagenfurt/Celovec, Nötsch/Čajna, St. Jakob im Rosental/Šentjakob v Rožu, Velden/Vrba – an interdisciplinary team of scientists and artists with pupils initiates a research process on landscape-related topics such as mobility and tourism. Inspired by artistic positions, the participants jointly develop scientific questions and examine them in microhistorical terms. As "researchers on their own account", the students relate their everyday lives to changes in landscapes and the use of space. They use, for example, city maps, photographs, conversations with contemporary witnesses or investigations of pollen flight. The pupils act as multipliers and activate other local residents to participate. Finally, the results of these processes will be artistically arranged and presented at CARINTHIja.2020.
