Salzburger Lungau und Kärntner Nockberge Biosphere Reserve

Efforts to transform the Nockberge National Park into a biosphere reserve were made for almost a decade, and finally, in July 2012, the Salzburger Lungau und Kärntner Nockberge Biosphere Reserve was internationally recognised by UNESCO. In hundreds of events, planning discussions and activities, Dietmar Rossmann’s national park team rendered preparatory work for the biosphere reserve and E.C.O. was allowed to accompany this process over many years. The international recognition that has now been given is a huge success for the national park team as well as for the region. We are very pleased about this, offer our warmest congratulations and wish the youngest, and at the same time largest, biosphere reserve in the Alpine region successful and sustainable development.
